Issues on Environment and Resources, Globalisation and Finance, International Development, Social Transformation, Peace and Security are major elements for sustainability, let's press for a more coherent systemic approach to the management of World issues, recognizing the fundamental transformations in progress and clearly facing the growing threats to the future.
Why do some feel others should be taught and never educated?
My take is that development agencies and big business will force their way using all sorts of colourful language without even bothering to understand the people they are developing. It is more along the lines of he who pays the piper calls the tune. And that is why history is strewn with the marks of the successful even though they may have conquered people who in a different way were more successful than the victors. And that is why there are so many unmanageable things in the developing world today...because even before people learn to cope with one concept, a new one has been developed and they are expected to take it on at the risk of economic punishment.
